The Office of the Campus Counsel supports the mission and purpose of the UC Davis campus and professional schools. Chief Campus Counsel, Michael F. Sweeney, reports to UC Davis Chancellor Gary S. May and Charles F. Robinson, General Counsel and Vice President of UC Legal for the Regents of the University.
UC Davis attorneys provide legal advice and assistance on a wide range of matters affecting UC Davis faculty, researchers, students and staff, including academic affairs, research, compliance, student affairs, business transactions, and labor and employment. Additionally, Health System-based attorneys provide legal advice and assistance for the UC Davis School of Medicine and Health System.
The mission of the Office of the Campus Counsel is to work collaboratively with our campus clients to advance the University's mission through problem solving, skilled advice, vigorous advocacy and effective, proactive counsel. Our goal is to be valued and trusted partners, recognized for our creativity, expertise, and commitment to our clients' objectives. We are dedicated to delivering quality, timely and responsive solutions to our clients.
If you think you have a legal issue related to University business, you should first discuss it with your department head or supervisor. Together you can decide whether you need to involve campus counsel. Once you have determined seeking advice or assistance from the Office of the Campus Counsel is appropriate, please contact our office, we will assess the issue and involve attorneys and other professionals as appropriate.
